😦 Every day, for two years, I gave money to a homeless man in the subway station. Then one day, he disappeared. A month later, I received an unexpected call. A woman introduced herself as his daughter and told me that her father had left me something very important before his death.
Every day, I saw a homeless man in the subway station, sitting near the exit. He never asked for anything, didn’t even have a sign. He remained silent, but I couldn’t ignore him, so I would give him some money.
He would always thank me by saying, “Thank you, my daughter.”
So, for two years, every day, I gave him money. Then, one day, I didn’t see him anymore. The days went by, but he was gone. I thought maybe he had passed away.
A month later, I received a call from an unknown number. “Is this Alice? Are you the one who helped a man in the subway station every day?”
“I’m his daughter. Actually, he wasn’t homeless. Before his death, he asked me to find you using the surveillance cameras. He said: ‘The woman in the red coat, her name is Alice.'”
She then asked me to meet her, saying that her father wanted to give me something very important.

When I met this woman, she handed me an envelope.
Inside, there was a letter with money, exactly the same amount I had given him every day for two years.
In the letter, he wrote to me:
“Alice, my dear,
I know this may surprise you, but I am not homeless.
I just wanted to test people, and you were the only one who didn’t ignore me.
Every day, you gave me money without ever asking questions, without ever judging.
I never spent this money.
I kept it, and I wanted to give it back to you because you deserve much more than that.
Thank you for not leaving me in the shadows.
With all my gratitude, The man from the subway”
