Margaret, Michael and Amber’s cantankerous neighbor, had had enough. However, one day they realized that their children had disappeared from the garden.
They thought they might be at the neighbor’s house, so they decided to investigate, but what they discovered shocked them.
Michael and Amber shared the joy of celebrations in their quaint suburban home, surrounded by the decorations they had recently completed.
They were interrupted by their neighbor Margaret, an elderly woman who had opinions on everything, while they were planning to celebrate their first Christmas with their adopted twins, Tom and Eliza.

Fortunately, she recovered, but she would need continued attention and care. A week later, she was released from the hospital and Michael and Amber found someone to care for her every day after dropping the kidnapping charges.
Afterwards, they visited him frequently. Michael was no longer worried.
That first party was one of the best they ever had, with Margaret’s gratitude and Amber’s reassuring smiles.
The dinner table welcomed shared stories, laughter, and the felt warmth of reconciliation. Margaret whispered thickly later that evening, “Thank you.” “For all things.”
Amber and Michael nod, their expressions warm. Amber simply said, “We’re family now.”
