“I think I’ll work until the end of my life,” Irene said. Her niece also works in the same shop. She is always by her grandmother’s side.
“The grandma has to come here. She might get bored at home. Grandma enjoys chatting with customers,” the niece confided.

Before Covid-19, Irene worked five days a week. Currently, she works three days a week.
In the shop, the grandmother has various daily tasks: pricing products, managing bills, and supervising other employees.

“These tasks give me a clear purpose in life.”
Irene has a lively character, and her work ethic sets a great example for young people.
“My grandmother is an inspiration to everyone. I’ll be very happy if my four children work as hard as she does,” her niece Gayle says.
She was awarded the title of “Woman of the Year” in her province. The elderly woman was deeply moved by this conferred title.
“We’re so proud of our lovely grandmother. She makes our life so interesting,” Gayle shared her feelings.
