Lucas and Nicholas converted an old white van into a mobile laundry. In July 2014, the “Orange Sky” laundry was created. Their van would roam the streets of Brisbane five days a week, offering homeless people a place to wash and dry their clothes.
Have you ever had an idea capable of changing the course of events? This happened to Lucas and Nicholas, two twenty-year-old young men living in Brisbane, on a particularly sunny afternoon.
Sitting in a public garden, they were watching passersby when they discovered a frequently overlooked issue: the lack of hygiene among the homeless.
They noticed that Mick, a homeless man, had dirty clothes and wished to clean them. This made them aware of the situation.
Determined to make a difference, Lucas and Nicholas converted an old white van into a mobile laundry. They acquired a portable generator and, thanks to significant donations, were able to get two washers and dryers that could wash twenty kilos of clothes per hour.
In July 2014, the “Orange Sky” laundry was created. Their van would roam the streets of Brisbane five days a week, offering homeless people a place to wash and dry their clothes.
Their enthusiasm and motivation were evident, and every day, they made sure this project moved closer to Lucas and Nicholas’s goal. Their aim?
To expand Orange Sky laundry across Australia. Ambitious? Absolutely. Possible? Totally. Their enthusiasm and motivation were evident, and every day, they made sure this project became a reality.
They believed that every wash, every smile, every story they shared could make a difference.
