My younger brother had enormous debts that he could no longer repay. I tried to help him as much as I could, but the amount was simply too large.
One day, one of my friends told me about a wealthy man who wanted to meet me, saying that he might be able to help us.
I agreed to see him. He was blind, having lost his sight after an accident, and lived alone in a large villa. He offered to marry me in exchange for a sum of money that would completely pay off my brother’s debts. I accepted, because it was the only way to help him.
We met during the ceremony. He wore dark glasses and seemed cold and distant. I smiled in front of the guests, but deep inside I felt empty.
