😦 “I gave her sleeping pills to calm her down a bit,” my mother said when I tried to wake my daughter, and she didn’t respond. I immediately took her to the hospital, and what the doctor revealed to me deeply shocked me.
After my wife passed away, my mother and sister came to live with me to help with raising my daughter. So, whenever I went to work, I always felt at ease, knowing that my daughter was in good hands.
One day, I came home earlier than usual and found my daughter asleep. It was surprising because she usually doesn’t fall asleep that early. At first, I thought she must have played a lot during the day and fallen asleep from exhaustion. But what shocked me was that a few hours later, she still hadn’t woken up.
I tried to wake her, but she didn’t respond, and I noticed her breathing was shallow. When I asked my mother if it was normal that she wasn’t waking up, she shrugged and said, “She was too agitated during the day, so I gave her sleeping pills to calm her down a bit.”
My sister, on her side, added, “Don’t worry, she’ll wake up sooner or later. Otherwise, we’ll finally have some peace.”
I was shocked hearing this. I immediately took my daughter and rushed her to the hospital. After examining her, the doctor came out to speak with me. What he revealed to me deeply shocked me.

The doctor said, “Your daughter has swallowed a dose of sleeping pills that’s far too high.
It’s an overdose for a child of her age and weight.
This dosage could have killed her.”
I was paralyzed, not understanding how my own mother could do such a thing.
As soon as I got home, I not only ordered my mother and sister to leave my house, but I also filed charges against them.
A few days later, my mother was charged with child endangerment, and my sister for complicity and failure to report abuse.
Fortunately, my daughter recovered, but my trust in my family was irreparably shattered.
