đ˛ I heard my daughter-in-law say, “Send your father to a nursing home, or I’ll leave you”: What my son did left me speechless.
My wife passed away when my son was still a little boy, and I had to raise him alone. When my son got married, he decided that I should live with them, and I agreed without thinking too much about it.
At first, my daughter-in-law was very kind to everyone, but I quickly felt that she didnât really appreciate my presence. Over time, her attitude toward me changed.
I felt a constant discomfort coming from her, no matter what I did. She wouldnât even let me take my grandson for a walk, claiming that he was too active and that I wouldn’t be able to keep an eye on him alone.
One day, I overheard her talking with my son. It was a serious conversation, and I decided not to get involved. But suddenly, I heard these words that chilled me: “Send your father to a nursing home, or I’ll leave you, and I’ll take our son with me.”
I was stunned. I didnât know my presence was such a burden to her. What my son said in response left me speechless.
The rest of my story is in the first comment below đđđ.
My son, initially silent, finally spoke.
In a calm but firm tone, he said to my daughter-in-law: “I understand that you feel overwhelmed sometimes, but my father is my family too. You knew he needed me, and I can’t abandon him.
Itâs easy to ask someone to leave when you donât see the love and sacrifices he made for us.”
She remained silent for a few moments, as if searching for the right words.
Then he added: “If you want our relationship to work, we need to find a balance. But I wonât sacrifice my father to please you. He lost my mother too soon, and now he deserves to be surrounded by his loved ones.”
He paused. “This is my family, and I wonât let anyone force me to make a choice.”
