Yesterday, I had parked my car in front of the house, and this morning, when I was leaving for work, I noticed something on the window. I went outside to remove it, thinking it was a branch or a flower. But when I touched it, it started to move.
At first, I got scared, not knowing what it was or if it was dangerous. I took a picture and sent it to my husband. He’s very smart, and even when he doesn’t know something, he quickly looks it up online and always finds an answer.
When he called me to explain what it was, I was shocked. I had never seen anything like it.

He explained to me that it was actually the caterpillar of a Spiny Oak Slug, a rather unusual and little-known insect.
What’s even more surprising is that it was covered in eggs from a parasitic wasp.
These wasps lay their eggs inside the caterpillar, and the larvae feed on the insect from the inside, gradually killing it.
The caterpillar itself is already quite strange, with its yellow skin covered in tiny spines, but this scene with the wasp eggs makes the situation even more fascinating.
When I understood what it was, I had a mix of astonishment and repulsion.
It’s incredible to see how nature works, but also a bit unsettling.
