šÆ I noticed these little beads inside the glass door, and I was very surprised when I found out what they were.
It all started some time ago. Strange little beads began to appear between the panes of our patio door. At first, there were only a few, but over time, they became more and more numerous.
Worried, I didnāt understand what they were. I panicked and called my husband, who was on a business trip at the time. He asked me to send him photos to see what it was. I sent them to him, but then he stopped answering my calls, which really made me anxious.
Fortunately, he called me back later and explained what it was. I was surprised. Thatās why Iām sharing this story with you, so youāll be informed if it ever happens to you.
The rest of my story is in the article in the first comment ššš.
When he finally called me back, he calmly explained what was going on.
āDonāt worry,ā he told me, āwhat youāre seeing are desiccant beads.
When double glazing is made, an air space is left between the two panes, and to prevent condensation from forming, this space is surrounded by a frame filled with these small absorbent beads.ā
He added, āThis desiccant is there to capture moisture.
But if you see it now, it means there has been a sealing failure or a tiny crack in the frame, and the beads have escaped.ā
I couldnāt believe it! I had imagined the worst scenarios, when it was simply an insulation issue.
He advised me to have the glass checked by a professional, because even though itās not dangerous, it means the glazing has lost its thermal efficiency.
