With a little creativity and patience, it’s possible to give outdated furniture a second life.
I’m sharing the transformation of our old dresser.
We bought it in 2017, and I was already thinking of getting rid of it, but my brother wouldn’t let me.
The structure of the dresser was fine, but everything else was in bad condition.
However, my brother transformed it into a modern piece.
He first removed the old varnish, and I must admit that it seemed quite difficult.
It took him a lot of time and patience.
Since I wanted a more aesthetic and modern dresser, he chose chalk paint in a soft, neutral color.
It provided excellent coverage and added a touch of retro charm.
To add contrast and depth, he applied an acrylic lacquer in a deep wenge tone on the darker areas.
Instead of replacing the top, he decided to do something much more creative.
He covered the imperfections with black paint, which created a modern surface.
In some areas, there were deep scratches, and to achieve an even finish, he used wood filler before painting.
After hours of work, the dresser was completely transformed.
It was very elegant and contemporary and fit perfectly into the atmosphere of my home.
