A young girl who had just turned eight didn’t want an ordinary birthday party. Instead, she wanted something more imaginative: a birthday where she could live out her mermaid dreams!
Desirae Deal, owner of Desirae Deal Photography in Lamar, Arkansas, helped Aspan transform into a magical mermaid through a photoshoot.
Everything was going well until the girl’s father, Michael, arrived at the end of the session.
Desirae explained that Aspan’s grandmother had gifted her a mermaid photoshoot for her birthday.
When Michael came on the scene, his daughter asked him to join her in the water. But Desirae had a better, albeit crazy, idea.
“I think I have a mermaid tail he could fit into,” she remembered saying. “And it kind of just went from there.”
Despite it not being planned, Desirae said Michael remained very calm when asked if he was ready to transform into a girl, don a seashell bra, and sport a fish tail.
The dad put on the mermaid costume and struck all the poses his daughter requested.
Desirae described the photoshoot as “the most fun” she’s ever had, and it’s easy to see why.
Desirae shared the photos of the nautical duo on her photography Facebook page, and they quickly went viral.
The adorable photo series has garnered 28,000 likes and 158,000 shares to date.
“I had the honor of doing a mermaid session for this adorable 8-year-old’s birthday and all she wanted was for her Dad to join her,” she wrote in the caption. “Let me tell you, he did NOT disappoint! The laughter, the joy, and the memories they created are the most beautiful gift he could have given her.”
She concluded her message with a beautiful reminder to all parents.
“Take the photos. Play with them every chance you get because they’re only little for so long.”
