😲 “Leave her, can you imagine the burden she’ll be for you? You could probably find someone else,” my mother-in-law said to my fiancé after my accident, and it was his response that shocked me the most: I really didn’t expect that.
After a serious car accident, I woke up in the hospital. I couldn’t feel my feet, and in a panic, I immediately called the doctor.
He explained that my situation was very serious. There was little chance I would ever walk again. I had to prepare for a long recovery, without really knowing what to expect.
Fortunately, my fiancé stayed by my side. He supported me the best he could and assured me that nothing would change our plans to get married. He told me he would accept me, no matter what my condition was.
But one evening, I overheard a conversation between him and his mother. She was saying, “Leave her. Can you imagine the burden she’ll be for you? You could definitely find someone else.”
I was in shock. She had always been so kind to me, even after the accident, and I never imagined she would say such things behind my back.
What upset me even more was my fiancé’s response. I really didn’t expect that.

After a long silence, my fiancé finally spoke.
In a calm but firm voice, he replied, “No one is immune to an accident, mom.
One day, you might also find yourself in a situation like hers.
And you think I should leave you in that case, just because you’d be vulnerable?”
He paused before continuing, “I told you I love her, and that won’t change. No matter what her condition is, I’ll be there for her, because that’s what we do when we love someone.”
I stood frozen, moved by his response.
After several months of rehabilitation, I finally began to feel my feet again and take my first steps, supported by my fiancé who never left my side.
