😦 My daughter married a Korean man, and after the wedding she never came back home, but every year she sent me $80,000 : one day, I decided to visit her without warning, and when I opened the door, I was left frozen in shock.
After the wedding, my daughter and her husband moved to South Korea. Twelve years passed. During all that time, they never came back to visit us. However, every year I received a bank transfer of $80,000 with the same message:
“I’m doing well, Mom. Take care of yourself.”
Every time we spoke on the phone, I asked her why she never came home. She always replied that she was simply very busy. Sometimes I could clearly see that she was sad, but she kept telling me that everything was fine and that she was just very tired.
One day, I couldn’t bear the situation any longer. I decided to travel to South Korea without telling her.
When I arrived at the address she had given me, the garden was perfectly maintained and the house looked completely ordinary. But the front door wasn’t locked. After knocking twice, I went inside.
What I discovered inside left me speechless.
The rest of my story is in the article linked in the first comment 👇👇👇.
As I walked into the living room, I saw my daughter sitting alone at the kitchen table.
When she saw me, her face fell, and she immediately burst into tears.
After a long silence, she finally told me the truth she had been hiding for all those years.
Just a few weeks after their wedding, her husband had left her without any explanation.
Ashamed that her dream had fallen apart so quickly, she had never found the courage to tell me.
She was afraid of how I would look at her, of the family’s questions, and of the judgment of those around us.
The $80,000 she sent me every year came from her own hard work, simply to make sure I would never worry about her.
As I listened to her, I realized that for twelve years she had carried an enormous sorrow all by herself.
I held her tightly in my arms and told her that no shame was worth the silence between a mother and her daughter.
