My mother-in-law removed the door to our bedroom, saying that her son had never hidden anything from her

😲 “My son has never had any secrets from me,” my mother-in-law said after removing the door to our bedroom. I expected my husband to be angry, but he took my hand and said, “Don’t worry. I’m going to teach her a good lesson.”

There was a plumbing problem at my mother-in-law’s house, and she had to stay with us for a week. We gave her our guest room, but by the second day, I regretted our decision.

She never knocked before entering our bedroom, and that wasn’t all: I had also noticed that she was rummaging through our drawers.

My husband kept reminding her that our bedroom was private, but that didn’t change anything. I told myself that it was temporary and that we simply had to put up with her for a few more days.

Then, one day, she did something unbelievable. When I came home from work, I saw that the door to our bedroom had been removed.

When I confronted her, she simply shrugged and said:

— “My son has never had any secrets from me. There shouldn’t be any barrier between us.”

I expected my husband to get angry and finally do something. He took my hand and said:

— “Don’t worry. I’m going to teach her a good lesson.”

And here’s what he did.

My mother-in-law removed the door to our bedroom, saying that her son had never hidden anything from her

My husband waited until she had gone to bed, then removed the doorknob from the door of the guest room where she was sleeping.

When she woke up and protested, he calmly explained to her that she now understood what it meant to need privacy.

He reminded her that since she thought there shouldn’t be any barriers in a family, she shouldn’t need a door to her own room either.

I found the situation quite ironic.

The next day, my husband clearly explained to her that she had to knock before entering our bedroom, respect our belongings, and respect our boundaries.

Finally, she understood that she had gone too far and agreed to have our door put back in place.
