When I heard about my brother’s wedding, I was truly very happy for him. For the occasion, I chose a simple dress because I didn’t want to attract attention. After all, it was their day.
I arrived at the wedding right after an important meeting, and all the guests were already gathered. I approached my sister-in-law to congratulate her, but upon seeing my simple outfit, she loudly declared in front of everyone that I was ruining the atmosphere with my appearance.
All the guests heard her remark and turned to look at me. But that wasn’t the worst part. A few seconds later, she deliberately spilled a glass of wine on my dress.
A freezing silence fell over the room. Everyone was waiting for my reaction. Even the DJ stopped the music to see what would happen.
They probably expected me to cry or make a scene, but I did nothing. I simply looked at my sister-in-law, pleased with her action, and then at my brother, who said nothing while I was being humiliated.
The guests hesitated to intervene, probably afraid of taking the wrong side.
What neither my sister-in-law nor the other guests knew was that I had financed the entire wedding.

The room became silent.
“I’m glad I was able to pay for this wedding. The venue, the food, the flowers, the music… everything. It was my gift to you.”

Then I continued:
“I thought you would at least show me some respect. But today, you showed me your true colors. So I’m going to cancel everything before I leave, even your honeymoon.”
I put down the microphone, took my bag, and left the room without looking back.
