😦 My sister went to the hairdresser to shave her head after chemotherapy, without imagining that something very unexpected was about to happen.
My sister had been fighting cancer for several years, and the most difficult period was the chemotherapy. Every day, she would look at herself in the mirror, holding a brush with only a few strands of hair left on it.
That sight broke my heart. I knew how much she loved her long hair. She wasn’t only fighting the illness, but also the constant reminder of what she was losing.
One day, she looked at me and said, “It’s okay, I’m ready to shave my hair. We can go to the hairdresser.”
I asked her to wait a moment and rushed into the bathroom so she wouldn’t see my tears. I had promised not to cry in front of her, but it was really very hard.
Then I came back out, and we went to the hairdresser. She didn’t want to go to her usual stylist, so we chose a random salon.
There were only male hairdressers there, all tattooed. I suggested going to another salon, but she reassured me that everything was fine.
She walked up to a hairdresser and said, “My hair is falling out because of chemo. Shave it before it all disappears.”
A heavy silence fell. One of the hairdressers began shaving her head without saying a word. When he noticed her tears, he gently placed his hand on her shoulder.
Then something very unexpected happened.

The hairdresser said to my sister, “You don’t have to go through this storm alone.”
Then he took the clippers and started shaving his own head.
My sister stood frozen in front of the mirror, her eyes filled with tears.
Without hesitation, the other hairdressers stepped forward one by one.
They picked up clippers and shaved their heads as well.
The silence in the salon turned into a moment full of emotion and solidarity.
One of the hairdressers smiled at her and told her she wasn’t alone.
I felt my heart tighten, but also warm deeply.
Complete strangers offered genuine support to my sister.
