My son didn’t invite me to his wedding simply because I was disabled and my wheelchair “ruined the aesthetics”: On the day of the wedding, I sent him something… after which he begged me to forgive him

😔 My son didn’t invite me to his wedding simply because I was disabled and my wheelchair “ruined the aesthetics”: On the day of the wedding, I sent him something… after which he begged me to forgive him.

After a serious accident, I was left paralyzed. But even that didn’t stop me from raising my son on my own. Life hasn’t been kind to me, yet I always did my best to give him everything I could.

He was 20 years old when he met Jessica: a perfect, elegant girl. When they got engaged, I was the happiest mother, already preparing for the wedding ceremony with excitement.

I had even chosen a dress suitable for my wheelchair.

However, a week before the wedding, my son came to talk to me. Without looking me in the eyes, he said:
“Mum, you know… we were told that the historic chapel we chose doesn’t have a ramp. And Jess thinks your wheelchair ruins the aesthetics.”

Then he added: “Everything has to be perfect… we even replaced our mother-son dance.”

It completely broke me. I never expected such an attitude from him. I said nothing, and he left thinking I was okay with it.

But on the day of the wedding, I sent him something… after which he begged me to forgive him.

On the day of the wedding, I sent a gift.

A package with an old album full of photos: him as a child pushing me in my wheelchair, hugging me, with this note on one of them: “I will never be ashamed of you.”

Fifteen minutes later, he was at my door, overwhelmed.

His eyes filled with tears, he was trembling as he held the album.

He told me he hadn’t recognized himself, that he had let pressure and other people’s opinions suffocate what he truly felt.

He had canceled everything.

I looked at him for a long time before embracing him.

My heart was hurt, but full of love, and I forgave him.

A month later, we reorganized the wedding.

This time, he walked beside me, proud, holding my hand.
