😯 Our neighbor was destroying my son’s snowmen on purpose, so here is the lesson I decided to teach him.
My son is only eight years old. He loves winter, and especially building snowmen. Every day after school, he does his homework, then goes outside to play and build new snowmen. He even likes giving them names.
One morning, when he woke up, he started crying when he saw that his snowman had been destroyed. I calmed him down by telling him that we would build another one together when he got back from school. This reassured him, and he went to school a little less sad.
In the evening, I helped him build a new one, even bigger. He put a scarf on it, saying it’s what made it “real.”
The next morning, I saw that his snowman was destroyed again. For several days, we built a snowman every evening, and it would be destroyed the next morning.
One morning, I got up earlier to find out who was responsible. That’s when I saw our neighbor walking across our lawn, destroying my son’s snowmen.
This really upset me. After observing him for a few days, I realized he was doing it on purpose. So I decided to teach him a good lesson, and here’s what I did.

So, I decided to react, but this time, in a more subtle way.
I waited a few days, patiently observing our neighbor.
Then, one evening, I suggested to my son that we make a special snowman: we used stones, sticks, and even an old ball to reinforce the structure.
This snowman would be different, much sturdier.
As expected, our neighbor came by to destroy the snowman.
He tried to knock it over, but he ended up falling into the snow himself, a bit trapped by the weight and resistance of the snowman.
I then calmly went outside and asked him if he was okay.
He was speechless.
He finally apologized, embarrassed, and since that day, our snowmen have remained intact.
