Melisa Sloane, a 47-year-old Welsh woman with a total of 800 tattoos, has spoken about her difficulties in finding a job due to her heavily modified physical appearance from the art of tattoos.
Despite previously working as a bathroom cleaner, she currently struggles to find similar employment opportunities due to her tattoos on her face and body.
“I can’t find a job. I tried to get a cleaning job where I live, but they didn’t hire me because of my tattoos. People thought I had never worked, but I have actually done it once, even though it was a short-term job. If someone offered me a job, I would accept it immediately.”
Melisa began getting tattoos at the age of twenty and quickly became addicted to the art of tattooing.
Despite the challenges of finding work, she mentioned buying three new inks every week and considering herself “addicted.”
She even stated her intention to continue getting tattoos even when she’s seventy years old. The woman has a particular preference for facial tattoos to the extent that she no longer has bare skin on her face.
She has covered old tattoos with new ones, creating an overlapping layer of designs all over her face. Sloane believes that it’s her facial tattoos that cause people to judge her harshly.
Not only does she have trouble finding work, but she also shared that she has faced other difficulties due to her tattoos.
Melisa’s mother was even excluded from the local bar and her children’s school because of her tattoos.
Melisa stated: “My face has three layers of tattoos. I probably have the highest number of tattoos in the world, and I might even set a record.”
However, the passionate tattoo enthusiast has no intention of giving up and wants to break the record, regardless of what employers may think.
