A tiny horse from Germany has broken a world record, becoming the smallest horse in the world. The animal’s height barely exceeds 50 centimeters: in the video the pet looks like a large dog.
Pamukl lives in Brekkerfeld in western Germany. The owner bought him from the breeder about two years ago – at that time the height of the animal was 47 centimeters.
Now, at the withers, the Shetland pony reaches only 50 centimeters, that is, it will no longer grow. It also weighs a little, about 35 kilograms. The owner often carries the pet in her arms and places it next to her in the car in the passenger seat.
The tiny horses were originally bred to work in confined spaces and were used in coal mines. Selection took about 400 years, since it was necessary to maintain strength while being small. Pamukl meets this criterion – a year ago he set another record, dragging a log twice as heavy as himself.
All other parameters of the breed Pamukl also shows that he is a purebred Shetlander:
The pony is more of a pet for the owner. Pamukl even lives in the hallway, along with the dog.
