🤔 Today, something strange caught my attention on one of the trees in our garden. Curious, I decided to approach it to understand better what it was, but as I got closer, I noticed that it was moving.
A chill of fear ran through me, and I instinctively backed away. I then took a photo to do some online research later. Fortunately, I didn’t touch it!
I’m sharing this with you so that you can stay vigilant if you ever come across something similar.
The details are in the article in the first comment 👇👇👇.
It’s a spotted lanternfly.
It’s a destructive pest that attacks many fruit trees, vines, and ornamental plants.
If you spot one, it’s essential to act quickly.
Don’t ignore them.
Report the sighting to your local environmental agency or the ministry of agriculture in your country.
Many countries have online portals to report such invasive species.
Manually kill the insects if possible. Crush them or use rubbing alcohol.
Look for their eggs, which are often laid in beige masses on tree trunks, garden furniture, or vehicles.
If you find them, scrape them off into a sealable bag with alcohol, then throw the bag in the trash.
Don’t transport them! Avoid moving infested wood, plants, or equipment.
Every action counts to limit their spread and protect local biodiversity.
