😲 “We’re not nannies, find another solution,” my mother told me, but my response was much stronger than she imagined.
After a long illness, my wife passed away in the hospital. Since then, I’ve done everything I can to make sure my daughter Lily doesn’t lack anything. She’s still too young, and of course, it’s an immense loss for her because she was very attached to her mother.
My mother helps me raise her, but of course, she can never replace my wife. From time to time, I notice Lily looking sadly at the other children with their mothers, but she never says anything.
Luckily, she feels comfortable with my mother, so I leave her there quietly with my parents, and I pick her up after work. I’ve always believed that family should help each other in difficult times, as it has been in my case.
However, over time, I began to notice some discontent on my mother’s part. She never said she was too busy or couldn’t look after Lily, but I could feel that this situation wasn’t sitting well with her.
So, I tried to manage on my own and only left my daughter with her in exceptional situations.
One day, when I went to pick up Lily, my mother, visibly displeased, said to me: “You know, we’re not nannies, find another solution.”
I was surprised, but what I replied left her speechless.

I stood silent for a moment, then I calmly replied: “Okay, mom. If taking care of Lily becomes too difficult, then we need to talk about something else.
I understand, but you also need to understand that I am not your personal bank.
I’ve always covered your expenses, your debts, your unexpected costs, without ever complaining, because that’s what family does.
But if you can no longer help me in this difficult time, I will have no choice but to reassess my priorities and stop covering your needs.”
She was left speechless, visibly shaken by my response.
She lowered her eyes, realizing that my words were not just a reply to her remark, but a reality she had probably ignored.
The silence that followed was heavy, but I felt that a realization had taken place.
Finally, after a moment of reflection, she simply said to me: “I’ll think about all of this, and I apologize if I reacted badly.”
