My son was 33 years old when he fell seriously ill. The doctors gave him no hope. After their diagnosis, my daughter-in-law said, with astonishing calm, “I’m not going to waste my time watching him become a vegetable.”
She then left and never checked on him again. I was the one who took care of my son.
