đ Every night, my wife set her alarm for 3:17 a.m.: at first, I thought it was just insomnia, until the day I finally discovered what was really going on.
The first time I noticed the 3:17 a.m. alarm, I joked that it was probably just insomnia. But as it became a habit and she did it every night, I started to worry.
She would wake up, get up very quickly, step outside the house for a few seconds, then come back and lie down again as if everything were normal.
Over time, my concern grew. For a while, I even had doubts, wondering if she was seeing someone, but that didnât seem to make sense.
I tried to talk to her about it, but each time she quickly changed the subject. One day, I decided to wake up and follow her.
She simply stepped outside, stood for a few seconds in front of the door while whispering something, then came back and lay down.
I couldnât stay silent any longer. I decided to ask her directly to finally understand the reason for her strange behavior. In the end, she confessed everything, and it left me speechless. I could never have imagined that such a story was behind it.

She sat down next to me, her face serious but calm.
â A year ago, just before our wedding,â she began softly, â I had a cardiac arrest⊠exactly at 3:17 a.m.
No one knew about it at the time.â
My heart tightened when I heard that.
â Since that day, every night, I wake up at that exact time to make sure Iâm still alive.
I just check⊠I touch my chest, I take a deep breath, and I know everything is okay.
It has become an unconscious habit, a small ritual to reassure myself.â
She looked me in the eyes and added: â I never wanted to worry you, so I never told you.
I thought you wouldnât understand.â
I held her in my arms, finally understanding those mysterious awakenings.
