I have a friend who’s an artist passionate about collecting vintage items ๐จ. The last time I visited her studio, a metallic object caught my eye ๐. It resembled scissors.
Curious, I wanted to know more.
She explained its use in detail, and I share everything in the article linked in the first comment ๐๐๐.
Every time I enter my friend’s studio, I find something interesting.
This time, I noticed an object that looked like a pair of scissors, but it wasn’t an ordinary one.
It had an unusual shape, with one side much longer than the other.
When I asked my friend what it was, she explained that these scissors were used to trim candle wicks.
Back when candles were the primary source of light, people used these scissors to shorten the lit wick.
This way, the candles burned evenly without producing smoke.
A small receptacle at the top caught the trimmed wick, preventing it from falling.
Today, such scissors are no longer made and are quite rare.
You can only find them in flea markets or with collectors of vintage items.
I see this object as a reminder that everyday vintage items can reveal unexpected beauty.
