My mother-in-law and her passive-aggressive notes: Here’s what I did to put an end to it

🤨 My mother-in-law used to leave passive-aggressive notes all around my house: I couldn’t take it anymore, so here’s what I did.

When my mother-in-law moved in with us, I thought it was a great idea. It was supposed to be temporary, and at first, I thought it would allow me to work more peacefully, knowing that the kids weren’t alone at home.

At first, she was charming, always ready to help, and very kind. But over time, her behavior changed, and I had trouble understanding why. She became more and more unbearable.

She stopped cleaning and stopped offering her help. But the strangest thing was that she started leaving passive-aggressive notes all over the house.

On the stove, I found a note that said: “I’m here to be used to cook for your husband.”

On the dishwasher, another message: “Real women don’t leave the dishwasher full.”

And on the dining table: “MY SON deserves a clean table, not one covered in your work papers!”

Even the coffee maker wasn’t spared: “A good wife makes coffee for her husband before he even wakes up!”

The most incredible thing was that she never said any of this directly.

One day, when I was sick, I found a note on my pillow: “A woman doesn’t get days off!” That was the last straw. I realized it was time to put an end to this situation.

So, I decided to react, and here’s what I did…

I collected all the notes she had left all around the house and stuck them up in turn.

Everywhere she would usually see them: on the fridge door, the bathroom, the kitchen table, the bedroom mirror.

But this time, my messages were clear and direct.

I wrote things like: “If you want to stay here, you should show respect” and “Passive-aggression has no place in this house.”

Then, on a post-it above the couch: “You have one month to find somewhere else to live.”

The message was strong and unmistakable.

She instantly understood that I would no longer tolerate this attitude.

The next day, she came to see me, clearly embarrassed, and started apologizing.

I knew it wasn’t the softest method, but it was the one that had the most impact.

Since then, there have been no more notes, and the atmosphere at home is much more relaxed.
