đŠ My 9-year-old daughter entered my hospital room after my delivery and begged me not to bring the baby home: then she showed me a recording that revealed something terrifying.
I know very well that children can feel jealous when a new sibling arrives. During my entire pregnancy, I did my best to help my daughter adjust to the idea that she would no longer be the only child in the house.
I kept explaining to her that the birth of her little brother wouldnât change the love we had for her, but that she also needed to understand that the baby would require a lot of our attention.
I felt like she understood. Yet after my delivery, when she entered my hospital room, she didnât come closer. She stayed near the door, staring at the baby, without daring to move forward.
Then, in a trembling voice, she whispered: âMom⊠please donât bring the baby home.â
At first, I thought it was simply a childish jealous reaction. But she looked truly terrified.
She then slowly walked toward me, her iPad clutched in her hands, before whispering: âYou need to see this.â
She played an audio recording⊠and what I heard revealed something terrifying.

My daughter replayed the recording, her hands shaking.
At first, there were hallway noises, then my husbandâs voice, clearly this time.
He didnât know he was being recorded.
He was speaking softly to a woman I didnât know.
âOnce she leaves the hospital, Iâll tell her everything. I canât keep living this life anymore.â
The womanâs voice replied, worried but excited. âAnd the baby?â
My husband hesitated and then said: âIâll do what needs to be done. Iâll leave with you.â
I felt the ground collapse beneath me.
My daughter squeezed my hand, whispering that she had heard the same voice in the hallway the day before.
When I confronted my husband, he first denied it, then ended up admitting it.
I left the hospital with my children and began divorce proceedings the next day.
