😦 My son died from an unexplained fainting episode at school: a week later, a young girl came to our house with my son’s backpack… and what I found inside left me frozen in place.

One day, I received a call from my son’s school. They told me he had felt unwell, fainted, and that I needed to come immediately. When I arrived at the school, it was already too late. My son had died. According to the doctors, it was an unexplained fainting episode.

But something was strange. My son’s backpack had mysteriously disappeared. The police searched everywhere but never managed to find it.

His absence was unbearable, especially on Mother’s Day. Every year, my son would wake me up with kisses, a clumsily made bowl of cereal, and a card he had drawn himself.

This time, I was alone. I didn’t even want to get out of bed.

It was nine in the morning when someone knocked on the door.

When I opened it, I saw a girl holding my son’s backpack in her hands. My heart stopped.

“Are you Max’s mom?” she asked me.

I nodded, unable to speak.

“He asked me to keep it… until today.”

I took the backpack, my hands shaking. But what I found inside left me frozen in place.

Inside the backpack, carefully wrapped in an old school T-shirt, was a small crocheted unicorn made of purple and white yarn.

One of its ears was still detached, and the thread hung awkwardly, as if Max had had to stop halfway through.

My hands began to tremble as I held it.

He knew I loved unicorns.

At the bottom of the backpack, I found a folded card, covered in his uneven handwriting:

“Mom, it’s not over yet. I love you more than cereal breakfasts.”

Tears blurred my vision.

Then the young girl confessed that Max spent his breaks secretly learning crochet from the school library’s grandmother.

He wanted to surprise me for Mother’s Day.
