Teachers, these heroes of the day, dedicate their lives to supporting and shaping the destiny of future generations. Among them, Professor Ranjitsinh Disale stands out for his extraordinary dedication.
Recently honored with the famous Nobel Prize for teaching, he left his mark on the world through his exceptional action: saving young girls from early marriage.
His action, rewarded by the GlobalTeacherPrize, has considerably transformed the lives of many students at the Zilla Parishad primary school in Paritewadi, (Maharashtra).
In the past, the tradition was to marry off young girls before allowing them to study, a practice that was considered completely normal. But today, thanks to Disale’s tireless efforts, these young girls will finally be able to continue their studies.
Going from village to village, he did not give up until laughter and learning were once again in the classrooms.
But Disale’s merits are not limited to this. During his acceptance speech, he said he would share half of his prize with the other 9 members of the top 10 finalists’ team.
With a total prize pool of one million USD, each will receive $55,000, which will allow them to continue their efforts for change in the world of education.
Disale emphasized, “I believe that if I share my prize with 9 teachers, I will be able to expand their activities.”
This altruistic act was cited by the organization itself as evidence of Disale’s informed choice among more than 12,000 candidates from more than 140 countries.
Education is the key to success for many girls. Disale specifies that his commitment will not end with this reward.
He hopes that classrooms will always be full and that more and more girls will have the opportunity to return to school, opening the door to a brighter future.
