✨ I gave a second life to my childhood desk, and the final result impressed my whole family.
When I left my parents’ house to live on my own, my room stayed exactly as I had left it. They didn’t change anything, and every time I came back, that desk, full of memories and utility, always drew me in.
One day, I got the idea to take it back and restore it. The desire to give it a second life pushed me to embark on this project.
It took a lot of time and energy, but the final result was truly worth it.
I’m sharing the photos of the result in the article linked in the first comment 👇👇👇.
Restoring this desk was both a creative and transformative project.
Originally, it was a classic wooden piece, a bit worn, with a yellowish hue and no distinct personality.
First things first, a good cleaning and light sanding were necessary to smooth out the surface irregularities and prepare the wood for painting.
The artistic direction was toward a mix of ethnic and modern styles.
The desk was painted in matte black and off-white, serving as a backdrop for hand-painted motifs: geometric shapes, vases, plants, and even a stylized leopard.
A minimalist face in continuous line adds a contemporary and abstract touch to the whole piece.
The handles were either replaced or enhanced to better match the new style.
Finally, I added some vintage decorative objects and books to perfect the ambiance.
This project shows how a simple old piece of furniture can become a true functional art piece with a bit of imagination, patience, and paint.
